Well…what a week indeed. Since I posted last Friday, there’s been a lot going on; apologies…it’s a long one!
Hare Krishna awareness. We had the wonderful opportunity to host an evening in our space whereby we celebrated Hare Krishna. We were privileged to meet such a bunch of the most beautiful souls, gain some knowledge regarding their belief system, invited to join them in their kirtan; through chanting & instruments (my jaw hurt from smiling…the sound & sensation was beyond beautiful) & we also shared the feast that was created with love & intention for this event. There were adults & children alike & the atmosphere was precious (that’s the only way that I can describe it). It was wonderful. Mum & I were also invited to a Temple in Wales where some of the ladies reside; honoured is an understatement & this is something we accepted gratefully & look forward to the experience. Watch this space! Some might ask why we would host something of this nature when we follow Witchcraft?! The answer is simple. We may not follow the path of Hare Krishna but as Witches, we embrace & respect the beliefs of others. We do not force our beliefs upon others, just as they didn’t force their beliefs upon us. We shared the experience in a mutual respect.
Beltane. We celebrated the 4th Sabbat in the Wiccan Wheel of the Year. It falls between the Spring Equinox (Ostara) & Summer Solstice (Litha); traditionally 30th April/1st of May. This festival marks the turning of the seasons & is associated with the element of fire. I will be discussing the history, associations & correspondences of the Sabbats, in depth over the coming months. Closing the shop will enable the time & focus that we require to improve our ceremonies; doing the Sabbats justice & creating the Sacred time & space for us & for our community to celebrate wholly. What do our ceremonies entail?
We invite you to celebrate the Sabbats through opening space & creating an atmosphere where we share our knowledge & offer the opportunity for you to gain an understanding, through participation in relevant activities & rituals & through sharing foods associated with the Sabbat.
Witching around. A bit of a delve into what us Witches get up to away from the Shoppe & in our home lives; contrary to common beliefs, Witches are actually ‘normal’ people who do ‘normal’ things. Ok ok…those of you who actually know us…me & mum are not ‘normal’ haha but in the best possible way (I hope). We don’t put curses on people (much), we don’t sacrifice children or animals or ride around on broomsticks. For the most part, it is about Mother Nature & the simple things that we take for granted. It is about embracing her & making use of her resources to create a sense of fulfilment. For example, I received a great sense of joy from repotting a few of my house plants & noticed that my pink princess philodendron has a perfectly divided white/green leaf (as shown in the pic). Me & Mum had a beautiful & peaceful day in South Shields (we lived there when I was younger). We strolled along the beach for what seemed like an eternity, while chatting, laughing & finding treasures. Bare foot on the sand with the sunshine on our faces, the sounds of the sea & the birds & the breeze in our hair; grounding & enjoying just being alive! We appreciated good food, good company & a place very close to our hearts. Of course things like this may not make you a ‘Witch’ but if you follow the path, these are some of the aspects that create our way of life. It really is as simple as that!
And on an ending note, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making my birthday a special one on Saturday. Thank you to those who sent birthday wishes on Mum’s facebook post, for those who came to see me at the Shoppe & to those who gave cards & gifts. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
